Your person died, and somehow the rest of the world kept going.

People went back to work. Friends stopped checking in. Family members started expecting you to be okay.

But you’re not okay.

You wake up thinking about them. You go to bed missing them. You smile when you’re supposed to, tell people you’re fine, and then fall apart when nobody is looking.

And maybe the hardest part is that you don’t even recognize yourself anymore.

How long have you been waiting for your grief to get easier before you start living again? It’s time we talked about that.

Let me ask you something

Which of these feel true for you right now?

Tap any that sound like you. Nobody else sees your answers.

There are no wrong answers here.

What we’re going to talk about

Not another class that tells you to be strong, give it time or find closure.

We’re going to have a real conversation about grief, the kind most people are afraid to have. Here’s how the teaching hour unfolds.

  1. Your person died. But that wasn’t the only thing you lost.

All the losses that came with their death: your future, your routines, your relationships, your sense of safety, and maybe even the person you used to be.

  2. Why you’re still hurting so much

Grief-related pain, the suffering that can build around it, and why fighting your feelings leaves you exhausted.

  3. What are you doing instead of feeling your grief?

Staying busy. Taking care of everybody else. Pretending you’re okay. Avoiding the quiet. We’ll look at the ways you may be protecting yourself from your own grief.

  4. Are you waiting for your life to start again?

What happens when you put your whole life on hold because someone you love died, and a question that may be difficult to answer.

What if loving your person and participating in your own life are both possible?

  5. Your person died. Now what?

What it means to begin working with your grief instead of spending every day fighting against it.

Not forgetting your personNot leaving them behindCarrying your love while making room for your own life

How the morning works

This is not a lecture where you just sit and listen.

I’ll ask you questions and invite you to look at your own grief. You can join in the chat or reflect privately. You may recognize something about yourself you haven’t been able to put into words. And that matters.

A little about me

Hi, I’m Sharon Brubaker.

Certified Grief Specialist and founder of The Grief School

I know what it’s like to have your world changed by death. I also know what it’s like to look around and wonder how everybody else can keep living when your world has been turned upside down.

I created The Grief School because I believe people deserve more than being told to give grief time. They deserve education. They deserve support. They deserve to understand what’s happening to them.

And they deserve to know that loving someone who died doesn’t mean they have to stop living.

I’m not here to tell you how to grieve. I’m here to help you understand your grief and discover what you can do with it.

Sharon

Your person died. But you are still here.

And I want to talk about what that means.

Not what everybody else thinks you should be doingNot how quickly you should be moving forwardNot how to get over somebody you love

I want to talk about you. Your grief. Your life. And what happens next. Let’s have the conversation you’ve been needing.
